Teapot for Enormous Garden Parties! SOLD!
SOLD! OK...I admit it. This teapot is ridiculously big. Once you have filled it to its gallon capacity it is going to weigh close to 10 pounds. But a teapot is one of those pots that gets larger than life the more you use it. Everything about this pot is useable. As with all of our teapots, the base of the spout is a sieve to strain out the loose tea. The front handle is to facilitate the lift and pour. The lid fits snugly and the majesty of the pot will resonate long after the last guest has gone home and it's just you and the Mad Hatter left to gossip about the afternoons revelry. My teacher and mentor, Michael Cardew once made a 10 gallon teapot that was mounted on a specially constructed ball-bearing turret for pouring. It was used for garden parties when entertaining the Colonialists visiting Nigeria. I always thought it grand that a pot could end up being resident in such esteemed company. It's the only one like it but once it sells I look forward to making a few more gargantuan vessels before I push on.
